Rough Ryder’s “Black Widow” Stockman is a beautiful classic pocket knife. The synthetic black jet and red coral handles have a black widow and chevron design. The pinched bolsters also feature a slant R design, and has a black widow spider design in black on red coral oval. The black and red color echoes the red hourglass of the black widow spider, which features in the shield and blade etchings.

The “Black Widow” Stockman has three 440A stainless steel blades, one clip point, one sheepsfoot, and one spey. Both blades have a mirror polish. The master blade has a detailed spiderweb and black widow spider etch. The spey blade has a “Black Widow” and a design of a black widow spider. The pinched bolsters also feature a slant R design. Each blade opens with a match strike pull. Unlike a standard nail nick or long pull, a match strike pull has serrations inside the groove of the pull. These serrations allow you to strike a match with your knife. The blades use the half stops and slip joints found in traditional pocket knives.

This knife is a stockman style knife. The stockman pattern originated in the 1880s, and had a spear point master blade. In 1900 the master blade became a clip point. The other blades are a sheepsfoot and spey. The clip point is best suited to everyday tasks like cutting food, the sheepsfoot for push cutting or sawing, and the spey for cutting flesh.

The “Black Widow” Stockman is a perfect knife for a collector, or for use as an everyday carry. Its striking black and red design make a unique knife that is still reliable and durable enough for everyday use.
