Rough Ryder’s “Bolster Stripes” Canoe is a beautiful pocket knife with peach seed jigged bone handles. The dark brown of the bone of the handles gives the knife a warm color that contrasts with the nickel silver bolsters, pins, and Rough Ryder shield.

The “Bolster Stripes” Canoe has a pair of mirror polished 440A stainless steel blades. The larger master blade is a spear point, and the smaller secondary blade is a pen blade. The master blade has a “Rough Ryder” etching. The bolsters have a ridged striped design, which gives the knife a more elegant appearance. Combined with the bone handles and the nickel silver shield, this knife is a classic example of a traditional pocket knife. The blades open with a match strike pull. Unlike a standard nail nick or long pull, a match strike pull has serrations inside the groove of the pull. These serrations allow you to strike a match with your knife. The blade uses the half stops and slip joints found in traditional pocketknives.

This knife follows the canoe pattern, named for the canoe-like shape of the handles and bolsters. The patter originated in the late 1800s or early 1900s, and has two blades bearing on a single back spring. The master blade is usually a spear point, and the other a pen. The pattern is popular with anglers because it cuts through fishing line with ease.

The “Bolster Stripes” Canoe is a perfect knife for a collector, or for use as an everyday carry. The deep brown bone handle and nickel silver fittings give the knife an elegant and refined look. Despite its good looks, this knife is still reliable and durable enough for everyday carry and use.
