Rough Ryder’s “Bolster Stripes” Sowbelly is a beautiful pocket knife with peach seed jigged bone handles. The dark brown of the bone of the handles gives the knife a warm color that contrasts with the nickel silver bolsters, pins, and Rough Ryder shield.

The “Bolster Stripes” Sowbelly has three mirror polished 440A stainless steel blades. The master blade is a clip point, and the secondary blades are a sheepsfoot and spey as in a stockman knife. The master blade has a “Rough Ryder” etching. The bolsters have a ridged striped design, which gives the knife a more elegant appearance. Combined with the bone handles and the nickel silver shield, this knife is a classic example of a traditional pocket knife. The blades open with a match strike pull. Unlike a standard nail nick or long pull, a match strike pull has serrations inside the groove of the pull. These serrations allow you to strike a match with your knife. The blade uses the half stops and slip joints found in traditional pocketknives.

This knife follows a sowbelly pattern, which is a heavy duty version of a stockman knife. It was named a sowbelly for the rounded shape of the handles which resembles a pig’s belly. The rounded handles keep the tips of the blades from catching on pockets when the knife is folded.

The “Bolster Stripes” Sowbelly is a perfect knife for a collector, or for use as an everyday carry. The deep brown bone handle and nickel silver fittings give the knife an elegant and refined look. Despite its good looks, this knife is still reliable and durable enough for everyday carry and use.
