Rough Ryder’s “Blackbeard’s Legacy” Moose pays tribute to the pirate Edward Teach. Also known as Blackbeard, he was the scourge of the Caribbean and East Coast of North America during the Golden Age of Piracy. A shrewd and calculating leader, Blackbeard spurned the use of violence and relied instead on his reputation. He became the inspiration for countless pirate-themed works of fiction across genres. and the inspiration for this unique knife.

The “Blackbeard’s Legacy” Moose has two 440A stainless steel blades, one clip point profile, and one spey. The blades have a black stonewash finish that matches them with the black handles. Each blade opens with a match strike pull. Unlike a standard nail nick or long pull, a match strike pull has serrations inside the groove of the pull. These serrations allow you to strike a match with your knife. The blades use non-locking slip joints found in traditional pocket knives. The handles are made of black smooth bone and have slant R nickel silver bolsters and pins. They also feature brass liners and a resin skull shield.

This knife follows the moose pattern, which is similar to a muskrat. Instead of having two clip point blades on each end, however, the moose pattern typically has a clip point and spey blade, such as in this knife. The clip point blade is used for detailed cutting work. The spey blade is an all purpose utility blade, and its blunter point makes it perfect for skinning.

The “Blackbeard’s Legacy” Moose calls back to the famous legacy of Blackbeard and the Golden Age of Piracy, and makes a unique collector’s piece.
