Rough Ryder’s “Classic Carbon” Swayback is a traditional pocket knife with yellow composition handles. The handles also feature nickel silver pins, bolsters, a special Classic Carbon shield, and brass liners.

The “Classic Carbon” Sawyback has three mirror polished T10 carbon steel blades. The carbon steel used in these knives is easy to sharpen, but prone to rust. It is best to keep the blades well maintained, clean, and oiled. The master blade is a wharncliffe and the knife also features two smaller pen blades. The bolsters have a pinched bolster shape, giving them a slight indent on each end of the knife. They also feature a slant-R embossed design. The blade opens with a match strike pull. Unlike a standard nail nick or long pull, a match strike pull has serrations inside the groove of the pull. These serrations allow you to strike a match with your knife. The blade uses the half stops and slip joints found in traditional pocketknives.

This knife follows a swayback pattern, with a large wharncliffe master blade. Wharncliffe blades are best suited to slicing tasks, like the similarly shaped sheepsfoot. However, their more gradual taper gives them a better piercing point than a sheepsfoot. This knife also has two small pen blades which are perfect for small cutting or piercing tasks.

The “Classic Carbon” Swayback is a perfect knife for a collector, or for use as an everyday carry. The yellow composition handles combined with the pins and shield give this knife a timeless appearance. With more than ten patterns in this series, it doesn’t get much more traditional than this.
