Rough Ryder’s “Coal Miner” Lockback is a traditional pocket knife black jigged bone handles. The handles also feature nickel silver bolsters, a Rough Rider shield, and brass pins and liners.

The “Coal Miner” Lockback has a single polished 440A stainless steel clip point blade. The blade also has a “Coal Miner” text etching. The blade opens with a match strike pull. Unlike a standard nail nick or long pull, a match strike pull has serrations inside the groove of the pull. These serrations allow you to strike a match with your knife. The handles have slant ringed bolsters and a nickel silver shield that contrast nicely with the black bone. The handles of this knife are made with bone, which is a natural material and prone to cracking. Therefore, some knives may have cracks near the pins or bolster.

This knife is a lockback, and as the name suggests, it locks in the open position. The blade is closed by releasing the lock on the back spacer of the knife. This knife features a clip point blade, which has many uses, both everyday household tasks and more rigorous work duties. The ability of this knife to lock makes it safer for more demanding or precise tasks.

The “Coal Miner” Lockback is a perfect knife for a collector, or for use as an everyday carry. With its black jigged bone handle and contrasting shield and bolsters, this knife is a beautiful piece. Still, it makes for a strong and sturdy knife at a great price.
